The Tremont Center

Storyline Bookshop is privileged to be a member of the Upper Arlington community and the Tremont Center where several locally-owned stores and restaurants have opened their doors to the neighborhood for many decades.

According to the Upper Arlington Historical Society,  Tremont Center was developed by King Thompson Company in 1951. The Tremont Clock was originally commissioned by jeweler H.J. Heimberger and built in the 1920s. It was moved from its downtown Columbus location to Tremont Center in 1954. This four-faced Seth Thomas clock, one of the few originals remaining in Ohio, weighs well over 1000 pounds and was maintained for over 25 years by Tremont Center merchant and jeweler, James Proicou.

Storyline Bookshop may be the new kids on the block, but many of these businesses and organizations have stood the test of time. Please consider shopping local whenever possible.

The world needs more little bookshops

“A few days after I signed the lease on  the space, I was walking around inside, elated to be opening my dream bookshop, when a man walked by and said ‘What are you putting in here?’ I was nervous to say because I hadn’t told anyone yet but I couldn’t help myself from sharing the excitement, and for the first time out loud I said with a grin ‘a little bookshop’. The man smiled and said ‘The world needs more little bookshops.”
